Originally from Paso, Robles, California, Abdul eventually found himself in Austin, Texas making cocktails at the cities most historic hotel.
In 2010, he entered the official drink of Austin competition with the ‘Brazos Brasiliensis Batini’. Everything about the drink represents Austin in some way. The name is inspired by the Mexican Free-Tail Bat, who lives under the Congress Avenue bridge by the millions and it’s also named for the The Brazos River where the native growing hibiscus plant resides. His Batini is then topped off with Tito’s Vodka of course! To this day, Abdul’s version of the Batini is one of the most popular drinks in Austin!
