I just got back from the New England Federation of Humane Societies Education Conference in Stowe, Vermont where I got to do one of my favorite things – teaching! Myles Chadwick (our Director of Clinic Ops & Training) and I taught a two-part workshop on building healthy organizational culture in animal welfare, and a presentation on how animal welfare orgs can go beyond “doing good” by becoming a social change movement and embracing customer service. I also got to do one of my other favorite things – enjoying inspiring conversations with animal advocates while enjoying awesome local food and drinks!

Emancipet invests in teaching other animal welfare professionals and training spay/neuter clinics because there’s just no way we can fulfill our mission alone – it’s going to take all of us to do more and do better to get where we want to be on animal welfare nationally.  Most of what we teach and train is the on side of animal welfare that often gets forgotten – the human side. We teach organizations to value their customers and their staff, to build stronger cultures, to connect non-judgementally with pet owners, and to invest in building organizational infrastructures that will make them stronger, more sustainable, innovative, and creative – ultimately saving more animals’ lives. And, because our friends at Tito’s Handmade Vodka love animals just as much as we do, we’re proud to be to have them help spread the world through the Vodka for Dog People campaign!

Next month, we’ll be in Daytona for the biggest animal welfare conference in the world – the Humane Society of the United States’ Animal Care Expo – and we’ll have more to share then!
